Naan@Barra

Somewhere in June if I’m not mistaken, one of my labmates, Amie told me about Barra, a sort of ‘mamak’ restaurant located at Section 7, Shah Alam (new shoplots just opposite the UiTM back entrance). After listening to all the good comments by her about the restaurant, I decided to pay Barra a visit, of course with Amie accompanying me and Ziemah as an escort. (hehe…jgn mare ye Ziemah..)

Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that the interior design of the restaurant is quite different with other mamak restaurants (you’ll know what I’m saying if you’re staying in Shah Alam). There’s a sense of modernization other than the same old look that possessed by regular mamak restaurants.

While looking at the menu, I asked Amie and Ziemah what should I order because the menu seems to have hundreds of roti (canai) and thousands of naan for me to choose. After flipping the menu for about 15 minutes (that’s normal for indecisive person like me), I finally ordered naan cheese which very much expected by Amie and Ziemah based on my passion for cheese all this while. Amie and Ziemah settled on naan ayam and naan daging.

Naan Ayam

Naan Ayam lagi..

Naan Ayam lagi..

After the anticipated foods arrived, I was a bit shocked by the size of the serving. It was quite big for a single serving, and it sure does look scrumptious. Without wasting any time, the three of us ‘gobbled’ on our foods and there were silence for the first few minutes as we enjoyed the taste of our meals. Even though I’m not a big fan of naan, I actually like it and thought it was very tasty. I still remember the taste, the aroma and of course the mouth-watering flow of cheese that came out from the bread when I cut it while it was still hot.

Naan Cheese..nyum..nyum...

Naan Cheese..nyum..nyum...

And to add to that, the next time I was at Barra, I ordered the same thing but it was a take away. After an hour journey (due to the traffic) back home, and another hour left on the table, the bread was still surprisingly soft. Maybe I did exaggerate a bit, but all in all, it was good. I like it, but sadly, it was not meant to be an every day-meal. Imagine the flow of calories and fats run through your body as the hot tasty cheese flow out of the bread. It’s sinful! Hahaha…

  4. bukanla nak cakap apa kan…
tapi masa mek khom nih bwk i..
takde la sedap mana pung…she was with me when she had the take away meal…but then, when i had it at home with my family, it was already cold n u know – cheese+coldness= eeiiewww…

thus, my advice is: “have it there!” -do not have it take away- (serious!) n then u’ll enjoy the so-called “the mouth-watering flow of cheese” *quoted from CK*
